Shopify Migration
Move to Shopify without treating migration as a copy-and-paste exercise.
A planned move onto Shopify that scopes products, collections, content, redirects and integrations, and is honest about the data that cannot always travel.

Why migration is project work
A platform change is a new storefront, not an export.
Shopify migration is the work of deciding what must arrive intact: products, collections, content, redirects, tracking and the integrations operations cannot pause. Customer records and order history depend on the source platform and on what Shopify and the law allow. We write the transfer list before anyone treats a CSV as the project. SEO continuity is planned. Completeness is not assumed.

Typical constraints
Migrations fail when the file export is mistaken for the brief.
- 01The current platform no longer fits the operating model.
- 02Product data is messy in ways a CSV will not repair.
- 03URLs that already rank have no redirect owner.
- 04Customer or order history is assumed to move in full.
- 05Integrations were never listed, so fulfilment breaks on day one.
- 06QA was a homepage check, not a shopping path on the new store.
How a move is sequenced
Inventory, rebuild what must be rebuilt, then cut over.
We do not promise that every object on the old platform has an equivalent on Shopify.
01
Source diagnosis
Catalogue quality, URL equity, apps and operational dependencies are listed.
02
Transfer design
Move, rebuild or drop is decided per object type.
03
Storefront and data build
Shopify is prepared as a shoppable system, not as an empty theme plus a product dump.
04
Redirects and tracking
SEO and measurement are implemented before the public cutover.
05
QA and launch
Flows are checked. Residual risk is written down, including what did not migrate.
What you receive
A migration plan with named inclusions and exclusions.
The useful artefact is the list of what transfers, what is rebuilt, and what is left behind on purpose.
01
Transfer inventory
Products, collections, content, media and, where permitted, customer data, each marked as move, rebuild or drop.
02
Redirect and URL plan
Rules for keeping demand attached to the right destination.
03
Integration list
Payments, fulfilment, reviews, analytics and anything operations cannot pause.
04
Theme or storefront path
Whether the destination is a new theme, a redesigned theme, or a minimum viable storefront first.
05
Cutover QA script
Shopping, tracking and merchandising checks that have to pass before DNS moves.
When this is the right entry
Migration is for teams that have already decided Shopify is the destination.
- A WooCommerce or other store whose operations now fit Shopify better.
- A catalogue that has outgrown the current platform's merchandising model.
- A brand that needs a cleaner checkout and is willing to accept Shopify's constraints.
- A store whose current platform is blocking paid or organic work.
- A team that wants the move planned, not improvised over a weekend.
What we judge
A migration is successful if the new store can be shopped and the old demand is pointed at it.
A shoppable destination
Collections and products are usable, not only present in admin.
Named data limits
What did not move is written down. Nobody discovers it after launch.
Redirect discipline
Important URLs have owners. Continuity is treated as a requirement.
Integrations that still run
Fulfilment and payment jobs have a path on day one.

Questions
Buying questions, answered directly.
No. Products, collections and content are the usual core. Customers and orders depend on the source platform and on permission. Some apps have no equivalent. We write the list before work starts.
Next move
If the move to Shopify is treated as a file export, start with the plan.
Share the current platform, the catalogue size and what operations cannot pause. We will write what transfers and what does not.
